Work Bug Out Bag Contents

I see many questions asked as to what should be in your bug out bag.  The way that I look at this is you should always have a couple item that would make your life easier if some kind of unexpected event occurs.  For example in my laptop bag the I carry around to work i have a small pouch on the shoulder strap that i can grab if for some reason the bulky laptop and work need to be left behind.  This bag contains a very simple tools that i think are very useful to have:

  • Knife or multi-tool
  • Lighter
  • Some kind of snack  food
  • Small Flashlight or headlamp
  • Some spare cash and change

Now I know that this will not carry me through a long term situation but it gets used every so often.  The cash can be used during a power outage instead of a credit or debt card to buy what you might need like more food, water, or cover small costs if you loose your wallet.  Obviously, along with this you need to have some common sense, like if it is winter and you live where it can get cold, wear an appropriate coat when you leave home.
